Ingrowing Toenails
Ingrowing toenails can be extremely painful. Like many nail conditions, several things can cause nails to become ingrown. Pressure from tight footwear, poor nail trimming technique and changes to the shape of your nail can all cause nails to dig into the skin and become ingrown.
Depending on the severity and location of your ingrown nail, I can offer several conservative treatment options to help relieve the pressure and pain associated with ingrown nails. During your appointment, we will discuss the best treatment plan for you, as well as the future management of your nails, and any options we may have to prevent the nails from ingrowing in the future.

During your assessment, it may become apparent that nail surgery could be the better option for the long-term management of your nails. As an FHP I am not trained or qualified to perform nail surgery, but I maintain close relationships with a number of local podiatrists who offer nail surgery and if you wish, I will happily refer you to their services.

If your ingrown nail is caused by excessive curvature, I will shortly be offering nail bracing services which can help to straighten the curvature of the nail and prevent the nail from growing into the skin. If this is an appropriate option for you I can give you further details during your assessment.
